Our background, experience and how we engage with our clients sets us distinctly apart from almost every other Tax Accountant out there. Our experience and expertise has been gained through working in real businesses not just in an accountants office and this is the number one thing that stands out to us in our engagements and the feedback we get from clients. Our Principal,  Michael, has a Bachelor of Business – Accountancy from QUT, is a CPA and has been for over 20 years, is a member of the IPA, NTAA, ICB and is a registered Tax Agent with the Tax Practitioners Board. Michael has over 30 years of commercial accounting and finance experience in diverse industries from agriculture, banking and finance, construction, retail, labour hire, manufacturing including brown goods, food, perishables and FMCG, international trade, infrastructure, import, export, wholesaling, engineering, health and even fin-tech. Michael has been a CFO across emerging corporates and large family businesses for over 30 years and started 5ivestar Business Services in 2013. 5ivestar evolved into Blue Dragon Business Services after we acquired the clients and IP of Blue Dragon in 2020. As a part of this business acquisition we moved our office from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast, however, our clients are national and global enabled by technology.

Apart from vanilla tax work, Michael is also a virtual CFO for start-ups and growing businesses in the $1m to $10m turnover space and growing rapidly. This means these developing businesses benefit from many years of experience and expertise in much larger and more complex organisations. Our Senior Accountant, Micaela has worked a Finance Manager and Accountant in many commercial enterprises as well as having her own business providing accounting services. Our Bookkeeper and Business Analyst, Taryn works remotely and has been mentored by Michael for the last 8 years and has worked in Accounts Payable in a high volume engineering business and is studying her Certificate IV in Accounting and Certificate IV in Bookkeeping. Our Graduate Accountant, Chandan, has a Masters of Professional Accounting, has experience in high-volume tax return environments and is being trained further by the team in all areas of Accounting, Tax and Bookkeeping. Our Marketing Co-ordinator, Freja, is studying a Bachelor of Business & Journalism at UQ and works tirelessly to ensure the brand evolves as the business changes and our engagement with clients and future clients is first-class.
